Placeholder — a planned essay on agent-based modeling as a complement to standard economic analysis.
Planned, not yet written — outline below, to be replaced with full content.
Intended scope
This essay will introduce agent-based modeling (ABM) as a way of studying how macro-level economic patterns emerge from the interaction of heterogeneous, boundedly rational agents, and will discuss:
- What ABM adds relative to representative-agent or purely econometric approaches, and where it does not substitute for them.
- A simple, illustrative example of an agent-based model (to be developed, with code, once written).
- Connections to complex-systems concepts such as emergence, feedback, and path dependence.
- How this relates to ongoing coursework (2026) in agent-based economic models (see the CV).
